Veteran journalist Soledad O’Brien is now officially a part of the HBO family tree, according to The Hollywood Reporter, O’Brien has sealed a development deal with the cable giant.
The first order of business will be sports magazine show, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, which O’Brien will be a permanent fixture on and her debut is an in depth look at how veterans battle and cope with mental illness under the guidance of a specially implemented program at a San Diego fight club.
O’Brien is ready and raring to go after leaving CNN earlier this year in response to her flailing morning show and the arrival of Jeff Zucker, who was named CNN Worldwide president.
It looks like CNN’s loss has now become HBO’s gain and we honestly can’t imagine a better place for someone with O’Brien’s creative aptitude to call home.
