The world of Reality TV is getting bloated by the week as new crop of shows make their respective blimps on the radar. Every genre imaginable has been infiltrated and now the focus is shifting to dating shows.
ABC’s The Bachelor has managed to maintain its unwavering momentum since its debut in 2002 so it only seems wise to update the format with a fresher more interactive approach and NBC has gladly taken on the challenge with Ready for Love which debuts Tuesday night at 9pm.
The show is armed and ready to deflect any comparisons to their overbearing mascot, this time love is the focal point of the dynamics sans all the dramatic and crazy-in-love antics that steadily plague The Bachelor. The structural instruments in place are all positioned to ensure the authenticity of this noble undertaking. There will be three bachelors (Financier Ben Patton, Musician Tim Lopez and Entrepreneur Ernesto Arguello), and they will be placed under the tutelage of experts who have mastered the dating arena in ways that have garnered them acclaim, matchmaker Amber Kelleher-Andrews, author Tracy McMillan and dating coach Matthew Hussey. And of course what’s a show without some much needed re-enforcements, this will come in the form of super couple Giuliana and Bill Rancic. The Rancics have pretty much proven beyond a doubt that love conquers all via their highly rated series Giuliana and Bill. So they are clearly up to the task of navigating a show that aims to demonstrate that very sentiment.
It will be interesting to see how this formula revitalizes the norm, interestingly enough its being produced by Eva Longoria’s UnbeliVAble Entertainment in conjunction with a handful of talents behind some of the pioneers of yesteryears, Jason Ehrlich (The Bachelor), Greg Goldman (Secret Millionaire), David Garfinkle (Blind Date) and Jay Renfroe (Blind Date).
Let the fireworks begin!
