{"id":1834,"date":"2012-01-25T02:54:56","date_gmt":"2012-01-25T02:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/?p=1834"},"modified":"2012-01-25T02:54:56","modified_gmt":"2012-01-25T02:54:56","slug":"trendy-report-oscar-nominations-are-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/25\/trendy-report-oscar-nominations-are-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Trendy Report: Oscar Nominations Are In!"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start --><p>Star of the upcoming <strong>Hunger Games<\/strong> and industry ing\u00e9nue, <strong>Jennifer Lawrence<\/strong> had the pleasure of announcing the Oscar nominees along side <strong>Tom Sherak<\/strong>, who happens to the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/2012\/01\/25\/trendy-report-oscar-nominations-are-in\/67591225-24083156\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1835\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1835\" title=\"67591225-24083156\" src=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/67591225-24083156.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/67591225-24083156.jpg 600w, http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/67591225-24083156-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The nominations were announced on Tuesday, and it was a mixed bag of pleasantries and disappointments with splashes of predictability.<\/p>\n<p>No surprise that <strong>The Descendants<\/strong>, <strong>The Artist<\/strong>, <strong>Hugo<\/strong> and <strong>The Help<\/strong>\u00a0were among the Best Picture noms. It was awesome to see <strong>Viola Davis<\/strong> solidify her position in the Best Actress race for her role in <strong>The Help<\/strong>, and of course she is in great company with <strong>Glenn Close<\/strong> who did a remarkable job in <strong>Albert Nobbs<\/strong>, and <strong>Meryl Streep<\/strong> who wowed in <strong>The Iron Lady<\/strong>. But noticing <strong>Michael Fassbender\u2019s<\/strong> name missing from the Best Actor category was quite disappointing considering his inspiring and courageous performance in the NC-17 slapped flick <strong>Shame<\/strong>. It is an outrage that he was omitted. Another major blunder is the fact that <strong>Melancholia<\/strong>, the stylishly edgy monotone vehicle by Danish filmmaker <strong>Lars von Trier<\/strong> was completely neglected by the Academy. Perhaps it was his utterly astonishing public display of negligence last spring at the <strong>Cannes Film Festival<\/strong> when he announced during his film\u2019s press conference that he was a Nazi that sealed his fate.
