{"id":15125,"date":"2016-04-20T21:32:59","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T21:32:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/?p=15125"},"modified":"2016-04-20T21:32:59","modified_gmt":"2016-04-20T21:32:59","slug":"slave-abolitionist-and-civil-rights-activist-harriet-tubman-will-be-the-new-face-of-20-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/2016\/04\/20\/slave-abolitionist-and-civil-rights-activist-harriet-tubman-will-be-the-new-face-of-20-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"Slave Abolitionist and Civil Rights Activist Harriet Tubman Will Be The New Face of $20 Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start --><p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Former U.S. President Andrew Jackson is about to vacate his coveted spot as the face of the $20 bill.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/harriet.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15126\" src=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/harriet.jpg\" alt=\"harriet\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/harriet.jpg 768w, http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/harriet-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>U.S. Treasury Secretary, Jacob Lew made the announcement on Wednesday as he confirmed that Harriet Tubman \u2013 the African-American civil rights activist and abolitionist, is in line to replace Jackson \u2013 a decision that supports the mission of the Obama administration &#8211; to have a woman featured on a paper currency.<\/p>\n<p>There are also plans to add more images of noteworthy women as well as historical figures that played integral roles during the civil rights era.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview with ABC News, Lews added more color around the ongoing process, \u201cWe are putting a woman on the 20, the 10, and the 5 and we are going to move as quickly as we can get all of these bills out there\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The long overdue revisions won\u2019t displace Alexander Hamilton who will remain on the $10 bill for the time being.<\/p>\n<p>The reluctance to replace Hamilton stems from his renewed popularity thanks to Lin-Manuel Miranda\u2019s hit Broadway musical, <em>Hamilton<\/em> that just recently garnered the Pulitzer Prize for drama.
