{"id":15035,"date":"2016-03-31T18:55:09","date_gmt":"2016-03-31T18:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/?p=15035"},"modified":"2016-03-31T18:55:09","modified_gmt":"2016-03-31T18:55:09","slug":"brandy-sues-record-label-for-blocking-her-freedom-to-be-creative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/31\/brandy-sues-record-label-for-blocking-her-freedom-to-be-creative\/","title":{"rendered":"Brandy Sues Record Label For Blocking Her Freedom To Be Creative"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start --><p>Singer and actress Brandy Norwood is taking a stand against her record label \u2013 Chameleon Entertainment with new allegations that she is being forced to stifle her ability to release music to her fans because the label refuses to fund any new material &#8211; thereby blocking the possibility of future LPs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/brandy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15036\" src=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/brandy.jpg\" alt=\"brandy\" width=\"628\" height=\"353\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/brandy.jpg 628w, http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/brandy-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The 37-year-old artist filed papers with L.A\u2019s Superior Court on Tuesday and according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ew.com\/article\/2016\/03\/30\/brandy-lawsuit\">documents obtained by Entertainment weekly<\/a> \u2013 <em>The Boy is Mine<\/em> songstress claims her label \u201cwill not pay for her to record new albums for allow her to otherwise release music to her fans\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Moesha<\/em> star is adamant that she is being bullied into \u201csigning a new recording and distribution agreement containing terms far worse than her current agreement\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Brandy is asking for $1 million in compensation. Her last album 2012\u2019s <em>Two Eleven<\/em> was primed to be the initiator of a five-album deal but based on the lawsuit &#8211; it seems Chameleon rescinded their promise to fund a second album.<\/p>\n<p>The record label insists that certain events led to the delay in getting the second LP off the ground.<\/p>\n<p>This latest development comes after Brandy recently dropped her new single <em>Beggin &amp; Pleadin<\/em> which was received with open arms and encouraged the singer to announce a forthcoming LP during an interview with EW \u2013 \u201cThere\u2019s definitely an album in the works. I\u2019m recording in Los Angeles, I\u2019m working, singing, and I\u2019m ready.
