The bomb explosion that ripped through Brussels’ transportation system on Tuesday morning is now officially an act of terror.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Isis (Islamic State) has claimed responsibility for the brutal attack that targeted the metro station and Zaventem airport \u00a0– 34 people are confirmed dead and over 230 injured.<\/p>\n

So far the Belgian police have captured footage of the two suspected suicide bombers dressed in black, each wheeling a trolley through the airport. They also have honed in on a third man who is seen walking alongside the two men.<\/p>\n

The suspect is dressed in white and the Belgian authorities believe he fled the scene. They are asking for help in identifying him.<\/p>\n

The reaction to this latest catastrophe has been expectedly sober. President Obama who is currently in Cuba with the first family gave his full support to the Belgian government and promised to \u201cto do whatever is necessary\u201d to help authorities in their investigation.<\/p>\n

France\u2019s Francois Hollande made it clear that even though the terrorists \u201cstruck Brussels\u201d, \u201cit was Europe that was targeted, and all the world that is concerned.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pope also expressed his horror at the state of affairs by condemning \u201cblind violence which causes so much suffering\u201d.<\/p>\n

The attacks prompted The UK to discourage citizens from travelling to Brussels while security at London airports have been elevated. David Cameron also publicly declared his support for Belgium by denouncing the terrorist threat and vowing that it will be defeated with \u201ceverything we have.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hashtag #PrayForBelgium began trending almost immediately after the attack was confirmed.<\/p>\n

But even more affecting are the images of Tintin, the cartoon character created by Belgian cartoonist Herge \u2013 depicted in various stages of reactionary illustrations.<\/p>\n

The cultural icon is being used to lift up a temporarily crippled nation as he proudly advises \u2013 \u201cLet\u2019s be strong.\u201d<\/p>\n
