{"id":14899,"date":"2016-03-12T00:00:47","date_gmt":"2016-03-12T00:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/?p=14899"},"modified":"2016-03-12T00:06:20","modified_gmt":"2016-03-12T00:06:20","slug":"hillary-clinton-criticized-for-praising-the-reagans-role-in-early-aids-advocacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/12\/hillary-clinton-criticized-for-praising-the-reagans-role-in-early-aids-advocacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Hillary Clinton, Criticized For Praising The Reagans&#8217; Role in Early AIDS Advocacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start --><p>As if presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton, doesn\u2019t have enough to contend with \u2013 the former first lady is desperately trying to backtrack on comments she made about former president, Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan who recently passed away at the age of 94.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/hillary.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14900\" src=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/hillary.jpg\" alt=\"hillary\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/hillary.jpg 800w, http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/hillary-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While attending Reagan\u2019s funeral in Simi Valley, California, and discussing the former first lady\u2019s legacy, Clinton carelessly allotted praise to The Reagans for their early contribution to the AIDS crisis that descended on the country in the early 80\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt may be hard for viewers to remember how difficult it was for people to talk about HIV\/AIDS back in the 1980\u2019s and because of both President and Mrs. Reagan &#8211; in particular Mrs. Reagan \u2013 we started a national conversation, when before nobody would talk about it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/cd_pcYyCejk\">http:\/\/youtu.be\/cd_pcYyCejk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Clinton continued to bestow unearned stripes to Nancy Reagan with more damaging insight that rubbed a slew of conscious citizens the wrong way &#8211; particularly because it was documented that Nancy Reagan callously refused to assist close friend and actor Rock Hudson who turned to the white house for help while he battled the deadly disease &#8211; before dying in 1985, \u201cAnd you know, that too is something that I really appreciate was her very effective but low-key advocacy, but it penetrated the public conscience, and people began to say \u2018hey we have to do something about this too\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Once the taped evidence made its rounds, an outrage was sparked particularly among celebs like Andy Cohen and Susan Sarandon, who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justjared.com\/2016\/03\/11\/celebs-react-to-hillary-clintons-statement-on-reagan-aids\/#more-1202196\">tweeted<\/a> their despair and disbelief at the notion that Hillary Clinton who has spent a considerable amount of her years in the political landscape, could issue a statement, riddled with glaring inaccuracies.<\/p>\n<p>Even more disturbing is the fact that Clinton is seeking to secure the highest office in the land and so far the journey to the top hasn\u2019t been a seamless one. This latest fiasco isn\u2019t going to make her future any brighter.<\/p>\n<p>As expected, Clinton issued an apology and set the record straight about the Reagans and their areas of interest, \u201cWhile the Reagans were strong advocates for stem cell research and finding a cure for Alzheimer\u2019s disease, I misspoke about their record on HIV and AIDS.
