Just ask Asif Kapadia. That is what this is all about\u2026Asif. He\u2019s fooled everybody\u201d.<br \/>\nWinehouse was never supportive of Kapadia\u2019s mission to expose the complex and intriguing story of Amy Winehouse\u2019s tragically short life \u2013 mainly because he believed the filmmaker\u2019s incentive was purely self-motivated.<br \/>\nHe consistently attacked Kapadia\u2019s vision by describing the finished product as a \u201cnegative, spiteful and misleading portrayal\u201d of his daughter.<br \/>\nDespite the rabid criticism &#8211; both Kapadia and producing partner, James Gay-Rees have managed to succeed in their quest to give fans of the Rehab singer \u2013 something to celebrate nearly five years after her untimely death from alcohol poisoning.<br \/>\nKapadia maintains that the goal was always to \u201cmake a film to show the world who she really was\u201d<br \/>\nGay-Rees concurs by adding that the late singer\u2019s fans still adored her \u2013 even when times were rough, \u201cThis is for Amy\u2019s fans, who loved her though thick and thin\u201d.<br \/>\nThe reception for Amy has been pretty encouraging and the good word has given both Kapadia Gay-Rees ammunition to produce their next controversial project about the life of soccer legend \u2013 Diego Maradona.<br \/>\nHopefully they stick to the facts \u2013 we have a feeling that Maradona isn\u2019t someone who will take being bamboozled lightly.<\/p>\n<!-- google_ad_section_end -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Director Asif Kapadia\u2019s dedicated his Oscar for best documentary, Amy, to the \u201cbeautiful girl\u201d who inspired it and as touching [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1,38,6],"tags":[2254,2777,2776,2778],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v17.3 -
