When asked how she settled on her sparkly number, Nyong\u2019o charmingly replied, \u201cI thought I would bring the galaxy with me\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/star-wars-force-awakens-los-angeles-premiere-lupita-nyongo-GettyImages-501371338-390x600.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14476\" src=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/star-wars-force-awakens-los-angeles-premiere-lupita-nyongo-GettyImages-501371338-390x600.jpg\" alt=\"star-wars-force-awakens-los-angeles-premiere-lupita-nyongo-GettyImages-501371338-390x600\" width=\"390\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/star-wars-force-awakens-los-angeles-premiere-lupita-nyongo-GettyImages-501371338-390x600.jpg 390w, http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/star-wars-force-awakens-los-angeles-premiere-lupita-nyongo-GettyImages-501371338-390x600-300x462.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 390px) 100vw, 390px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The day after the festivities, she was on The Ellen DeGeneres show where she divulged some interesting details about how she scored the role of Maz Kanata, a pirate brought to life by the magic of CGI.<\/p>\n<p>The audition was orchestrated to keep her in the dark so all she knew about the project was that director J.J. Abrams was at the helm.<\/p>\n<p>It was right after her well-deserved Oscar for <em>12 Years a Slave<\/em> and the pressure to remain as visible as possible propelled her to explore every opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>The audition took place in 2014, and Nyong\u2019o barely recalls the process but she does remember \u201ccrouching around and using her hands as a gun\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It looks like that was enough to get her booked because two months later Abrams called with the news every actress wants to hear.
