{"id":14163,"date":"2015-10-14T19:52:12","date_gmt":"2015-10-14T19:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/?p=14163"},"modified":"2015-10-14T19:52:12","modified_gmt":"2015-10-14T19:52:12","slug":"eddie-murphy-reveals-why-he-refused-to-parody-bill-cosby-for-snl-40th-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/2015\/10\/14\/eddie-murphy-reveals-why-he-refused-to-parody-bill-cosby-for-snl-40th-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Eddie Murphy Reveals Why He Refused to Parody Bill Cosby for \u2018SNL\u2019 40th Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start --><p>Enough time has passed since the epic celebration that was televised earlier this year in recognition of <em>Saturday Night Live\u2019s<\/em> 40<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>Comedian and actor Eddie Murphy who began his enviable career on the show back in the early 80\u2019s perfected his impressions of everyone from Bill Cosby to James Brown \u2013 the latter won him undying praise and is still the funniest skit ever produced.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14164\" src=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/13.jpg\" alt=\"13\" width=\"611\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/13.jpg 611w, http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/13-300x236.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 611px) 100vw, 611px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>But a lot can happen as the years pile up and Murphy eventually exited the long running staple to funnel his ability to be a movie star \u2013 an endeavor that he achieved beyond measure except for a couple of misses which were infamously mocked by former cast member David Spade. Murphy never forgave the show for putting him on blast and the bad blood still remains which fueled rumors that he could possibly bow out from the TV extravaganza.<\/p>\n<p>But Murphy did make a brief appearance and it was clear that he made it happen on his terms. Which explains why despite pleas from his former colleagues including Norm MacDonald who curated a sketch just for Murphy &#8211; that was meant to mock Cosby who was already knee deep in the sexual abuse scandal that continues to cripple him \u2013 Murphy stuck to his guns and refused to indulge.<\/p>\n<p>The publicly brutalized statesman who used to be fondly revered as \u201cAmerica\u2019s Most Favorite Dad\u201d later thanked the Beverly Hills Cop star for refusing to mock him for the sake of entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy for his part hasn\u2019t stated whether or not he believes the embattled comedian is innocent or guilty but when addressing the issue recently with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/sf\/style\/2015\/10\/13\/eddie-murphy-hasnt-told-a-joke-onstage-in-28-years-hes-still-the-funniest-guy-around\/\"><em>The Washington Post<\/em><\/a>\u00a0\u2013 his reasons for not doing the skit seemed to hinder on his need to be humanly considerate for all the parties involved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s horrible\u201d. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing funny about it. If you get up there and you crack jokes about him, you\u2019re just hurting people. You\u2019re hurting him. You\u2019re hurting his accusers. I was like, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m coming back to SNL \u2018 for the anniversary, I\u2019m not turning my moment on the show into this other thing\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy absolutely did what most in his position would have failed to do \u2013 which is to turn down another opportunity for a star-making performance at the expense of someone who most felt deserved to be ridiculed.<\/p>\n<p>MacDonald acknowledged this fact on Twitter, a few days later \u2013 \u201cHe will not kick a man when he is down\u201d. \u201cEddie Murphy, I realize is not like the rest of us.
