Under the direction of director Cary Fukunaga whose portfolio of varied hits include, <em>Jane Eyre <\/em>(the one with Michael Fassbender)\u00a0\u00a0and the first beloved season of\u00a0<strong>HBO&#8217;s<\/strong> TV series, <em>True Detective,<\/em> the cast and crew were transported to the wildly primal territories in Ghana, and the conditions proved to be almost life-threatening to the leading actor.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2015\/film\/news\/beasts-of-no-nation-netflix-idris-elba-cary-fukunaga-1201582041\/\">Variety<\/a> &#8211; Elba recalls how he almost plunged 90-feet to his death while filming a climactic scene that required him to lean against a tree overlooking a waterfall. \u201cI remember slipping and catching onto this big branch that was sticking up, and I literally was like, \u2018Whoa\u2019. \u201cIt was a moment where I was like, \u2018This is the real deal\u2019. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, the British actor survived his near-death experience which is awesome news for his fans that will get to see him tackle what is being hailed as his most definable role. The film is also an ambitious effort for <strong>Netflix<\/strong> as they lay down the foundation for a new venture into the movie business which was inevitable considering the surmountable success the streaming giant has enviably amassed of late.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Beasts of No Nation | Teaser Trailer [HD] | Netflix\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oRsaclO0VbU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Beasts<\/em> is currently making the mandated rounds at film festivals including Venice and Telluride and will makes its debut Oct. 16 on <strong>Netflix<\/strong>, and considering this is the first feature film for the media powerhouse \u2013 all hands are on deck to ensure there will be many more to come.
