Comedian and <em>SNL<\/em> alum, <strong>Norm Macdonald<\/strong> took to Twitter on Wednesday evening in an effort to give a throrough account of the behind-the-scenes mayhem that ensued before the world was invited to the party.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/082812-celebs-comedians-bill-cosby-eddie-murphy.jpg.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13691\" src=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/082812-celebs-comedians-bill-cosby-eddie-murphy.jpg.png\" alt=\"082812-celebs-comedians-bill-cosby-eddie-murphy.jpg\" width=\"608\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/082812-celebs-comedians-bill-cosby-eddie-murphy.jpg.png 608w, http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/082812-celebs-comedians-bill-cosby-eddie-murphy.jpg-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The juicy details primarily revolve around <strong>Eddie Murphy\u2019s<\/strong> brief appearance on <em>SNL40<\/em> that left many of his fans feeling rather depraved. Turns out that Murphy was given the option to relieve his glory days but declined out of respect for another fellow comedian who has been weathering allegations of sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>Macdonald drafted a skit specifically for Murphy that positioned him to impersonate and ridicule<strong> Bill<\/strong> <strong>Cosby<\/strong>. It probably would have been epically hilarious not to mention the perfect launching pad for a revered genius whose contributions to Saturday Night Live surpasses reason.<\/p>\n<p>But Murphy chose the high road and <strong>Kenan Thompson<\/strong> ended up as a contestant on \u201cCelebrity Jeopardy\u201d as <strong>Bill Cosby<\/strong> with the assistance of <strong>Will Ferrell<\/strong> (Alex Trebek). Macdonald (Burt Reynolds), <strong>Darrell Hammond<\/strong> (Sean Connery) and <strong>Kate McKinnon <\/strong>(Justin Bieber).<\/p>\n<p>But the bad blood between Murphy and the institution that he called home during his formative years as a comic developed out of an ill-conceived sketch featuring <strong>David Spade<\/strong> back in the early 90\u2019s. During the famed \u201cWeekend Update\u201d segment, Murphy\u2019s picture appeared as Spade uttered the phrase \u201cLook children, a falling star\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It was a jarring and painful stab at the man who came to the rescue when <em>SNL<\/em> was flailing. Macdonald gave props to Murphy \u2013 acknowledging the massive role he played when the show was suffering from low ratings and lack of direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEddie, the man who, in Lorne\u2019s absence, kept the show alive. Singlehandedly\u2026Every Saturday at 11:30 Eddie Murphy, a kid, would fill 90 minutes with comedy. Impossible\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy never forgave his old stomping ground for the public ridicule and betrayal and steadfastly refused to be affiliated with<em> SNL<\/em> in any capacity. He famously turned down the opportunity to attend the 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary in 1999 and shot down as any hopes of being a rotating host.<\/p>\n<p>Macdonald also admits that he spent an hour trying to get Murphy to change his mind about doing the \u201cCelebrity Jeopardy\u201d skit \u2013 but obviously it was to no avail.<\/p>\n<p>In the end <strong>Eddie Murphy<\/strong> wasn\u2019t willing to give Bill Cosby the same treatment he had received not too long ago.
