{"id":1328,"date":"2011-11-09T21:45:11","date_gmt":"2011-11-09T21:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/?p=1328"},"modified":"2011-11-09T21:46:38","modified_gmt":"2011-11-09T21:46:38","slug":"rapper-heavy-d-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/2011\/11\/09\/rapper-heavy-d-passes-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Rapper Heavy D Passes Away"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- google_ad_section_start --><p>It was first reported by <strong>TMZ,<\/strong> that rapper <strong>Heavy D <\/strong>who dominated the music scene in the late 80\u2019s and early 90\u2019s with hits like <em>Now That We Found Love<\/em><strong>, <\/strong><em>Somebody For Me,<\/em> <em>Who\u2019s The Man<\/em> as well as the theme song for cult favorite <strong>In Living Color<\/strong>, passed away suddenly Tuesday afternoon after being transported to a hospital in LA after he was found unconscious outside his home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/2011\/11\/09\/rapper-heavy-d-passes-away\/heavy-d_240\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1329\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1329\" title=\"heavy-d_240\" src=\"http:\/\/mytrendybuzz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/heavy-d_240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The rapper who was born Dwight Meyers in Jamaica, grew up in Mount Vernon, New York and it was there that he developed a love for rap music and ended up hustling around a demo he had recorded with the help of his crew that consisted of DJ Eddie F, Trouble T-Roy, and G-Wiz. They hit the big time when they caught the attention of <strong>Andre Harrell<\/strong>, from <strong>Def Jam<\/strong> who along with <strong>Russell Simmons<\/strong> helped make the <strong>Beastie Boys, Run-DMC<\/strong> and <strong>LL Cool J<\/strong> household names. He signed up the eager lads and their first album <em>Living Large<\/em> was released in 1987.<\/p>\n<p>It took sometime for the group to hit its stride but by 1989, after the release of <em>Big Tyme<\/em>, they had successfully established their own special brand of groovy tunes. And by the early to mid-nineties, there was a steady string of hits and melodious tunes laced with catchy hooks to certify them as a formidable rap group.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heavy D <\/strong>also waded in the acting pool, and he made his most recent and final appearance in <strong>Tower Heist<\/strong> starring <strong>Eddie Murphy <\/strong>and <strong>Ben Stiller<\/strong>. He also returned to the stage to perform at the <strong>Michael Jackson<\/strong> tribute concert a few weeks ago.
